Chipmaker Nvidia has reported what it deems as "record" sales for the three months sales period between November and January, due to a spike in demand for its new Maxwell graphics cards. Nvidia says money from its GeForce GPUs climbed by 38 percent, pushing profits up by a third to reach $193 million. For the full year, total revenue climbed to $4.7 billion and net profits hit $630 million. However, sales results of the company's micro-console, the Nvidia Shield, were not disclosed. "Momentum is accelerating in each of our market-specialized platforms, driving record revenue in the quarter and full year," said the company's chief executive Jen-Hsun Huang. Looking ahead, Nvidia will hold a presentation at the Game Developers Conference in March where the company is expected to reveal something that will "."

| #IDARB Review | XBA

XBA:
At the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco last year, XBA was invited to an ID@Xbox showcase. At the time, Microsoft was getting grief for not providing the same level of indie support as PlayStation. It was a thing. People were upset. So we trundled down to The Mission district to see what Xbox was doing to fight back.
The showcase was crammed with indies, both familiar and unfamiliar. Alongside hyped known upcoming games like Capys Super Time Force were quirky, inventive little Kinect experiments like Fru, made in 48 hours by a small team of Dutch devs. There was loads of good stuff there. But one game generated more buzz than anything else in the room. It was called #IDARB.

Valve's pursuit of a truly open PC platform led to the beginning of the Steam Machine initiative, prompted by Microsoft's plans to erect a massive walled garden in Windows 8 in the form of the Windows Store. Nothing stopped users from running their own code on the OS of course, but the introduction of a Microsoft app store with...
